I detect another scientology/Dianetics cult in the works. These idiots have mistaken the Flynn Effect combined with 20 years of accelerated socio-technological advancement for the catalyzation of the messiah/neo-sapien. Ever read Interview with a Vampire? Indigo children are nothing more than frustrated Gen-X/Y uberkids.

Still, the harm has already begun. Let me direct your attention to an excerpt from What’s an Indigo by Wendy H. Chapman:

“Indigo Children are the current generation being born today and most of those who are 8 years old or younger. They are different. They have very unique characteristics that set them apart from previous generations of children. The name itself indicates the Life Color they carry in their auras and is indicative of the Third Eye Chakra, which represents intuition and psychic ability. These are the children who are often rebellious to authority, nonconformist, extremely emotionally and sometimes physically sensitive or fragile, highly talented or academically gifted and often metaphysically gifted as well, usually intuitive, very often labeled ADD, either very empathic and compassionate OR very cold and callous, and are wise beyond their years. Does this sound like yourself or your child?”

Metaphysically gifted? Life color? I’m no expert but I can make a fair guess that this fails to provide a solid foundation for any legitimate self-help system. Why would one need to believe that they posses a heightened awareness? –grins— Are they God’s chosen?

Lets look at Mrs. Chapman’s criteria for the Indigo:

· Have strong self esteem, connection to source
· Know they belong here until they are told otherwise
· Have an obvious sense of self
· Have difficulty with discipline and authority
· Refuse to follow orders or directions
· Find it torture to waiting in lines, lack patience
· Get frustrated by ritual-oriented systems that require little creativity
· Often see better ways of doing thing at home and at school
· Are mostly nonconformists
· Do not respond to guilt trips, want good reasons
· Get bored rather easily with assigned tasks
· Are rather creative
· Are easily distractible, can do many things at once
· Display strong intuition
· Have strong empathy for others or NO empathy
· Develop abstract thinking very young
· Are gifted and/or talented, highly intelligent
· Are often identified or suspected of having ADD or ADHD, but can focus when they want to
· Are talented daydreamers and visionaries
· Have very old, deep, wise looking eyes
· Have spiritual intelligence and/or psychic skills
· Often express anger outwardly rather than inwardly and may have trouble with rage
· Need our support to discover themselves
· Are here to change the world - to help us live in greater harmony and peace with one another and to raise the vibration of the planet

As you can see, everything is kosher until we reach two bizarre, misplaced and unnecessary characteristic:

Have spiritual intelligence and/or psychic skills

Are here to change the world - to help us live in greater harmony and peace with one another and to raise the vibration of the planet

I credit myself on being a pragmatist but as far as I’m concerned, the jury is still out on extrasensory perception. I have a seemingly endless supply of excerpts from various sites all of which contain farfetched explanations of our neo-kids. You see, the problem is that these are the *fundamentals, the basic mechanics of how the "experts" think these children operate. The world doesn't depend on these children so why should anyone instill this ludicrous belief. At best this is a psycho-evolutionary hiccup.

I have had people tell me that they think I am an Indigo Child. While I really don't know that much about them, I do believe that if you don't look at it from a scientist's perspective and don't allow the more New Age-y things like the aura color to get in the way, the existence of the Indigo Children may very well be valid. The awareness of our human race as a whole is swiftly picking up momentum as of late.

The Indigo Children, from what you've posted, appear to be a manifestation of this increased velocity.

Quite frankly, the world depends on all children. And all children have these capabilities, although it seems that some just happen to have a thinner layer of sugar coating on them--the Indigo Children.

Wendy hasn't studied paleoanthropology, evolutionary psychology or meme mutation. I take it. In a nutshell, a nut is a nut and evolutionary changes are small and gradual and have reasons. This isn't eugenics, Lysenkoites. We do not inherit acquired characteristics, inasmuch as we would prefer this ability to cope with the inanities of this rapidly d/evolving techocratic slave trade we call post^3*modern first world living.

Whowhat? I checked the website and it really seems to be profiling a normal healthy child or adult who has self respect confidence and creativity.

This is a symptom of

a) political change over the last 10-15 years that has sternly suppressed people's options to hold self respect and be creative. Anyone who spends time trying to get standard services, only to be told it's their fault they haven't got the services promised, will understand. Any parent trying to protect their child from bullying in schools by pupils or staff will understand. Anyone who doesnt want to be tagged, chipped, retina printed by a system that will make mistakes with the info, and use anything to blame us and put us in the wrong, will understand.

b) new age neurosis that's obsessed with novelty and the american youth cult. Why are the achievements of previous generations that insisted on liberation & autonomy totally ignored in favour of the latest fad?

On the other hand people are so depressed now, so suppressed, so afraid to stand up to authority, that this rather silly book (+ the consultancy and its fees) will help encourage parents to protect their children better. I suppose it might make some parents braver to feel they're nurturing a new special kind of child than that it's just their job to protect a basic healthy kid from being bashed up by grey bureaucrats.

Seeing how many kids don't need ritalin and other drugs if they're taken out of the unhealthy aggressive environment of school into home education, I guess anything that'll stiffen the resolve of nervous parents and get them protecting their kids properly is a good thing.

While reading your post, I was thinking about myself fitting into all of the things you wrote that were characteristics of an "Indigo Child"...I have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and my thinking pattern often seems different than a lot of my friends who are my age. I am 15. Everyone tells me that I am extremley intellectual, and my parents are amazed at my wisdom and unique sense of self. I am very in touch with my feelings. I feel as if I understand so much that is wise beyond my years.

I just wanted to say that not every one can understand the ins and outs of a PC, and just as such not everyone can understand the ins and outs of the human soul. It looks like you may have gone to a few sites and based your opinion on just that YOUR OPINION. But let me ask you, when you look out your door to the terrifying world today, do you not at least hope that there is a change brewing in the eyes and hearts of our children today? To each his own opinion, so here is mine. Indigo people of any age have a hard life ahead of them, one filled with distrust, ridicule, and abuse. I believe that there is something more then what we see in our daily tasks and our humdrum lives. I believe that there are answers, not centered but based upon religious principles, and the souls of the people you walk by and would rather spit on in the street are in some way a part of that change. But let us entertain your belief that this is a "psyco-evolutionary hiccup" and that the world is not ascending into a higher state, but rather we maintain the vengeful state we find ourselves in. We go to wars. We create children with no mothers or fathers (cloning for those of you who find it hard to keep up). We spend everyday wondering if there is a God. We fight over our views of 'god'. We war with one another, until such a blissful day when we find ourselves staring into the sky with warheads peircing the eyes of our children. Is this better? Is it better to believe that there is no such thing as advancement? That we are doomed to mediocraty? Or humor me, is it possible that there is something bigger then YOU out there? That there is actually something perhapse that your functioning 10% brain can't manage to tie its self around, because you can't see it or test it. Is it really that 'bizarre' to think that the world has a chance to grow and be nurtured past the toddler-like point we find ourselves in presently? That it is possible that people who seek wisdom and peace are born daily and live out of sync with mainstream society as a whole? You see, there are some people who know, not in the mind or the heart but in the soul, that their purpose is to guide and create a world that is safe for the generations to come.
Well, with that said, you may now call me a lunatic and humanitarian. And I will wear such words with pride. But you, my faithless pragmatist, must also face what some may call you. Practicality or not, SOME may find you passionless. And to live a life without passion is to hardly live at all.

Who's to say whether Indigo children (or maybe just the next generation being analysed) are better or worse then what we have now? Humanity has always gone to war, participated in violence. Just as we have always performed great acts of love and compassion. A new generation won't change that, no matter how apparently self-aware they may be.

If so-called indigos are so psychic, why can't they wait in line patiently? If they're so evolved, why do they resemble typical adolescents in behaviors and attitudes? Frustration with authority is classic teen. Can't they intuit their way to conflict resolution if they're so advanced? I don't see anything very Christ-like in Wendy Chapman's attributes--just a lot of rationalizing.

Mark Twain said that when he was a teenager, he could scarcely believe how ignorant his father was. When he was some years older, he was amazed at how much the old man had learned.

I haven't read a post yet from a self-selected "indigo child" that demonstrates anything lusciously progressive. Quite the opposite, in fact: a lot of adolescent drama queens.

Okay so I lived 35 Years and did not hear Indigo and Child used together in my whole life? Why? This makes me wonder, I am always wondering, it's what I do! K so if I have an I.Q. of 148, can do anything, and have all these other traits as the Indigo Child does where does this leave me? Well it leaves me skeptical. Right from the start when they talk of the spirituality of these or who knows maybe my people. I am not a believer in "God", so where does that leave me as far as in fitting into the whole Indigo Scheme of things? Everything I know I learned, felt, smelled, touched, ate, or was smacked it the head by it. "God" is not one of these things, therefore I have no basis for believing in "It". They say Indigo People can read emotions, I can, no doubt! They say they are Intutive or Psychic, I am and/or have experianced that many differant times in my life. I have every single on of these traits. And from all I have learned it is called and Considered ADHD! I don't believe in the fact that ADHD is a bad thing. I for one find it to be a Gift! It saves me a lot of money at bookstores in buying books titled "How to be Creative" or "Find your Original self", No need! I came original with creativity, sense of humor, extreme talents and ability's, sensitivity, and an unlimited amount of free batteries. I am not saying the Indigo people do not exist, because I have not proven it to myself yet! I will or I wont, but I can not as of now consider myself anything other than a fortunate, and uber intelligent human with ADHD. I am gifted without doubt, I dont take medication, and I do great at whatever I do. All I feel slapping me in the head right now is the fact that I think it is just another "label" such as "Gifted, Disabled, Retarded, slow, extreme, unbelievable, unmotivated" simply Adjectives! The more descriptive we can be the better we sound? lol. Am I wrong? I dont like "Labels" when applied to people, I am me! Simply the way I am. When others see traits in me and they want to label it I call that Judgement, another dislike of mine. Us as the so called ADHD, another Label, are frustrated how people in general want to treat adults or kids differant because of it. Thats a Pile of steaming BS. When we are born our Parent/Parents give us the only Label I ever will accept, I call it a name! Thats all anyone is going to call me, call me anything you want it simply proves to me that you are insecure, and feel the need to judge others so you can raise your self worth up off the floor where it belongs, right onto of the Labels. that's my opinion. Very unconvinced, as far as the Indigo goes. I think I am going to go re-write the ten commandments. I will condense them down to 5 or so becasue thats all I evers see anyone paying attention to. Then I will come up with a cute name and just start my own non-profit corporate based religion that worships, hmm what I like? Dogs we' ll be the Labrador retrievologists, and my dog will be my God, he pretty much is anyway way, I pet him, talk to him, i worship him. why not anyone wanna be a part of Retievology? I know someone out there is picking up on what I am layinng down here. E-mail any opinion you might have to me : Chobiediller@gmail.com
